   We moved to the Maddocks Sports & Social Club, in Oakengates, Telford, in May 2018. And so began yet another chapter in our club's very long history. We have the use on Thursday nights of a very large room which is quiet, comfortable and well-lit. Perfect conditions for some enthralling encounters over the chess board!

   For the previous seven years we were known as 'Priorslee Lions', the best name we could come up with due to playing at 'The Lion', in Priorslee!

   Our club history goes back much further though. From 1987 until 2011 we were 'Coddon Chess Club' and played at the Coddon Sports & Social Club, in Donnington. As Coddon, we remain the only team ever to win the Shropshire League for SIX consecutive years! Prior to that (and long, long before my time!!!) we were based at GKN Sankey's throughout the 1970s and early 1980s.

   We cater for all standards of chess players, from beginners up to strong county players - Grandmasters would also be very welcome! We participate in the Shropshire Chess League from September to March, where we enter two or three teams in order to give as many members as possible the opportunity to play in the league against other players from Shropshire. We also take part in the Shropshire Rapidplay League, for those who like their chess just that little bit more crazy!

   Anyone would be more than welcome to come along, from 7:30pm on a Thursday night, to just have a go amongst a very friendly group of chess players.
